Security Shake-Up: New Commissioners Take Charge As IGP Egbetokun Reassigns Top Officers

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has announced the immediate posting of 38 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to various State Commands and Police Formations across the country.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement released on Friday, Force Spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed that the deployment includes 9 CPs assigned to key state commands and 29 CPs appointed to various police formations. The newly appointed CPs for state commands are: CP Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba for Zamfara State, CP Bretet Emmanuel Simon for Taraba State, CP Christopher Ado Emmanuel for Yobe State, CP Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin for Cross River State, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman for Niger State, CP Sani Omolori Aliyu for Bauchi State, CP Bello Shehu for Katsina State, CP Saka Adewale Ajao as Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and CP Ojo Adekimi for Kwara State.

The remaining 29 CPs have been posted to various police formations across the nation as part of a wider initiative to address growing security concerns and ensure more effective policing responsive to community needs.

The statement also noted: “Each CP will be responsible for implementing strategies tailored to the specific needs of their respective formations, ensuring proactive and effective policing.”

The IGP has charged the newly deployed CPs with prioritizing their duties to combat insecurity and misconduct, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining law and order through intelligence-led policing. This reshuffle underscores the new leadership’s resolve to equip the police force to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
