Senate Approves Tinubu’s Nominees For Key Health And Hajj Agencies

The Senate’s confirmation followed the comprehensive presentation and consideration of reports from the Senate Committees on Health, Secondary and Tertiary, National Identity Card and Population, and Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Kelechi Ohiri secured confirmation as the Director General of NHIA during the proceedings.

For the NAHCON roles, the confirmed nominees include Malam Jalal Arabi as chairman, Aliu AbdulRazak as Commissioner for Policy, Personnel and Finance, Prince Anofiu Elegushi as Commissioner for Operations, and Prof. Abubakar Yagawal as Commissioner for Planning and Research.

Before the Senate confirmed their appointments, the session transitioned into the Committee of the Whole to individually assess the reports from each committee.

Concluding the proceedings, Senate President Godswill Akpabio commended the committees for their meticulous screening of each nominee and the presented reports. He extended congratulations to the nominees, urging them to uphold the responsibility of their appointments with diligence.
