He mentioned that the government is shifting its focus from oil to solid minerals, and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration is committed to developing the economy through the mineral sector.
According to a statement from the MCO’s Head of Press, Folasade Fatoke, released to the media in Abuja, Senator Ngwu emphasized that the current administration is exploring gas exploration and solid minerals as primary sources of revenue for Nigeria.
While acknowledging that the solid mineral industry faces challenges, the senator assured that legislative interventions would be pursued to address these issues and make the system more effective.
During his recent visit to the MCO for familiarization purposes, Ngwu praised the Director-General of MCO, Engr. Nkom, and his team for consistently increasing the agency’s revenue since its establishment.
He specifically commended the legal and ICT units for their outstanding work and mentioned that the agency is planning to upgrade further.
He explained, “My visit here is to familiarize myself with the agency and not to ask questions because we are still studying what is going on and looking at the policy direction of the government because the government has to direct, ours is to support, oversight and put up a legislative framework to make sure that the government succeeds.”
Ngwu emphasized the importance of Nigeria to everyone, stressing the need for collaborative efforts to ensure the country’s progress.
