Osadolor, speaking on Thursday, denounced the six-month suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, labeling it as disgraceful and unjust. He argued that Akpabio’s decision to remain in office during the process undermined the credibility of the Senate and raised serious doubts about its integrity and fairness.
“The Senate President should have recused himself if he truly had integrity. Stepping aside would have allowed for a fair investigation. This entire situation is deeply troubling, and I believe anyone who values justice would feel the same,” Osadolor stated.
‘They Used State Power to Silence Her’
Osadolor further condemned what he described as a calculated effort to silence Akpoti-Uduaghan, stressing that the Senate wielded its authority and bureaucratic influence against her in an alarming manner.
“Natasha could be anyone’s sister, wife, daughter, or mother. Watching them conspire and use state power to suppress her voice is disgraceful,” he lamented.
He also rebuked opposition lawmakers for their silence during the proceedings, accusing them of prioritizing their political survival over standing up for justice.
“Even more disappointing was the failure of opposition members in the Senate to speak out when it truly mattered,” he said.
Osadolor further alleged that many lawmakers chose to remain silent out of fear of being targeted or labeled as rebels.
“They were more concerned about staying in Akpabio’s good graces. No one dared to challenge the situation because they feared political backlash. It’s truly shameful,” he added.
