Senate Urges Government To Compensate Families Of Fallen Army Personnel

In response to the tragic loss of 16 army officers and soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State, the Senate has called upon the Federal Government to promptly provide compensation to the affected families. The solemn request was made during a session held on Tuesday, where senators paid tribute to the fallen military personnel with a minute of silence.

Senator Abdulaziz Yar’adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, tabled a motion of urgent importance concerning the killings and emphasized the imperative for swift investigation. Following the adoption of this motion, the Senate mandated the Committees on Army, Navy, and Defence to collaborate with the Nigerian Army in conducting a thorough inquiry into the incident.

Furthermore, the Senate urged the federal government to ensure that those responsible for the appalling crime are swiftly identified, apprehended, and subjected to the full extent of the law through a transparent legal process.
