Speaking during a media briefing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Wike dismissed any notion of leaving the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He, however, revealed that many PDP leaders from Benue, Plateau, Abia, and Edo States would follow him if he ever decided to defect to the APC.
“Today, if I declare that I want to join the APC, it will spark a wave of defections,” Wike said. “You will see leaders from other states joining. I’m not a leader limited to one state. No.
“If I were to say, ‘Gentlemen, we’ve had enough of the PDP; it’s time to move,’ watch as leaders in Benue, Plateau, Abia, and Edo make their decisions.”
He reiterated his loyalty to the PDP, adding, “I’m a member of the PDP, that’s why I’m still here. And yes, Seyi is not happy about it. But it’s incorrect to assume that just because someone is in the National Assembly, a state assembly, or a council chairmanship, there isn’t room for others.”
