Sh*ck Discovery In Kaduna! FG Reveals ‘World-Class’ Mineral Deposit
The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, has revealed the discovery of a world-class polymetallic mineral province in Kaduna State, containing significant deposits of platinum group metals, gold, nickel, copper, lithium and rare earth elements.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Alake made the announcement on Wednesday during the opening of the African Natural Resources and Energy Investment Summit 2026 in Abuja, describing the find as one of the most important breakthroughs in Nigeria’s mining sector in recent years.
The disclosure came shortly after Steron Mining and Company Limited unveiled an estimated 3.3 million metric tonnes of lithium reserves at its Abuja mining site during a facility tour for summit delegates.
According to the minister, the discovery was verified by the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency (NGSA) and has the potential to strengthen Nigeria’s standing in the global market for critical minerals and rare earth resources.
He explained that the mineral-rich province was identified by a private company working in partnership with the NGSA and contains exceptionally high-grade deposits of strategic minerals that are increasingly vital for clean energy technologies and advanced manufacturing industries.
“This is the first time I am making this announcement publicly,” Alake said. “Recent exploration breakthroughs verified by the Nigerian Geological Survey Agency have uncovered a world-class polymetallic mineral province in Kaduna State, featuring substantial deposits of platinum group metals, gold, nickel, copper, lithium and rare earth elements of exceptional grades.”
He noted that the discovery positions Nigeria as an emerging destination for strategic mineral resources and sustainable mining investments.
Alake also highlighted the Federal Government’s commitment to moving away from the export of raw minerals towards local processing and value addition.
“For too long, Nigeria’s vast mineral wealth has not translated into adequate national value,” he said. “We have faced a paradox of enormous mineral potential but limited beneficiation, growing global demand but insufficient geological confidence, legal authority but weak enforcement, and extensive activity but high levels of informality.”
The minister added that investors have already committed billions of dollars to mineral processing projects, which are expected to transform Nigeria’s economic landscape and accelerate industrial development.
