President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence that Nigeria will emerge stronger in the face of recent threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, assuring that his administration is handling the situation “with seriousness and depth.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, following a routine meeting with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Idris said President Tinubu remains calm and focused, adopting a multi-faceted diplomatic strategy to address Washington’s concerns through dialogue, coordination, and transparency.

“The issue of U.S. threats was discussed extensively with the President,” Idris said. “He is calm and exploring ways to ensure the international community understands Nigeria’s ongoing efforts. Only two weeks ago, the President strengthened the Armed Forces with new service chiefs—a move already in motion before the U.S. concerns, showing his commitment to national security.”

The minister emphasized that the government prefers constructive engagement over inflammatory rhetoric, noting that new communication channels have been opened with international organizations to improve understanding of Nigeria’s security reforms.

President Tinubu has also continued to meet with Christian and Muslim leaders to foster national unity and counter divisive narratives. Idris explained, “It is a multi-pronged approach. The President will keep engaging religious leaders as key stakeholders in the Nigerian project.”

Refuting allegations of religious persecution, Idris called such claims “absolutely false” and stressed that extremists attempting to divide the country are responsible for tensions. “This is not the time for division but for nation-building,” he said.

Trump had on Saturday threatened military action against Nigeria over alleged killings of Christians, warning that the U.S. would cut all aid if such acts continued.

Idris reaffirmed that President Tinubu remains composed and determined, actively engaging with the U.S., regional, and continental bodies to strengthen cooperation in combating terrorism and correcting misconceptions about Nigeria. “The President is taking this seriously, and all relevant authorities are addressing it fully. We believe Nigeria will emerge stronger,” he concluded.
