Shettima Visits Maiduguri Bomb Blast Victims, Pledges Support To Families

On Wednesday, Nigeria’s Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, visited victims of the recent bomb blasts in Maiduguri who are receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) in Borno State.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He was accompanied by the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Hajiya Zubaida Umar.

After meeting with the victims, Shettima expressed condolences to the Borno State Government, the people of the North-East, and the families of those who lost their lives in the attacks. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased and for the swift recovery of those injured.

Condemning the attack, he emphasized that no religion condones the killing of innocent civilians.

“We are here to console the government and people of Borno State, especially the families affected by these tragic attacks,” he stated.

The Vice President also assured Nigerians that the federal government remains committed to maintaining peace across the country. He announced that NEMA, in collaboration with other agencies, will begin distributing medical supplies and relief materials to victims and affected families.

Earlier reports noted that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu, arrived in Borno State on Wednesday following the terrorist attacks.

The military chiefs landed at Maiduguri Air Force Base and proceeded directly to the Theatre Command Headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI. At the base, they were welcomed by the theatre commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, along with other senior military officials at around 11 a.m.
