According to the source, “They have the list already. Several names have been written against their respective offices. But they just have to find out and do some checks on a few of these names. That’s what is delaying the list. They are being very strategic with this.”

If President Tinubu proceeds with appointing ministers of state, a total of 44 names will be submitted to the 10th Senate for screening and subsequent approval. It was previously reported that politicians had flocked to President Tinubu’s private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, during the Eid-el-Adha holidays, in a bid to vie for ministerial slots.

As stipulated in the Nigerian constitution, President Tinubu is expected to unveil his ministerial list on or before July 28. Within the first 60 days of assuming office, the president is required to announce his ministerial nominees and forward the list to the Senate for consideration.

The idea of creating ministries or commissions specifically dedicated to particular regions in Nigeria has always been a subject of controversy and debate. The establishment of institutions like the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), which focuses on the welfare of the Niger Delta region and other oil-producing states, has sparked reactions and differing opinions among the people of Nigeria.

As the security scrutiny of President Tinubu’s ministerial list continues, Nigerians eagerly await the official unveiling of the nominees. The selection of competent and capable individuals for ministerial positions is of utmost importance as they will play a significant role in shaping policies and driving the nation’s development agenda.
