The event, attended by Fayose’s family, friends, and political allies, attracted a host of influential personalities despite the heightened political turbulence currently rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Sharing photos from the celebration on his Facebook page, Saraki expressed his joy at being part of the occasion. He wrote, “It was a pleasure to join His Excellency, Ayo Fayose, his family, friends, political associates, and other dignitaries in Lagos today to celebrate his 65th birthday.” Fayose’s birthday event took place the same day the PDP held its National Elective Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. The simultaneous timing of both events further highlighted the widening cracks within the opposition party. Reports indicate that the Wike-led faction made attempts to halt the convention through court injunctions, while the group loyal to Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum insisted the exercise must continue.
