Tinubu’s comments came just days after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened possible military intervention, citing what he described as “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

Trump had alleged that Christians in Nigeria were facing an “existential threat” and warned that Washington could act militarily if Abuja failed to respond. He claimed to have directed the U.S. Department of War to prepare “options for airstrikes or boots on the ground” to “wipe out” the Islamic terrorists allegedly responsible for the killings.

Responding to the claims, Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria would continue to engage the international community with confidence and would not be bullied or forced into panic.

“We face challenges head-on and remain steadfast in our commitment to engage partners and champion Nigeria’s interests on the diplomatic front,” he said.
“We are confidently asserting our presence on the global stage, guided by calm, clarity, and purpose.”

Tinubu acknowledged the nation’s long fight against terrorism but vowed that his administration would not relent until total victory is achieved.

“We have faced terrorism for nearly two decades and we will not back down. Security is non-negotiable, and we will never compromise on this principle,” he declared.
“With courage and commitment to the rule of law, we will prevail.”

The President urged unity among Nigerians, describing the country as “one united family” determined to overcome its challenges together.

He also reassured citizens of his administration’s ongoing reforms aimed at delivering “a prosperous and inclusive Nigeria,” pledging that every effort would be made to eliminate criminality and strengthen national security.

“We urge our allies to stand firmly with us as we amplify our fight against terrorism. We have made significant progress in the past two years and will decisively eliminate this threat,” Tinubu said.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to being a reliable global partner while expressing gratitude to members of the armed forces and intelligence community for their sacrifices.

“To the brave men and women of our armed forces and intelligence community who serve fearlessly, regardless of tribe or religion, we express our deepest gratitude,” Tinubu stated.
“Your commitment is our strength in the fight against terror.”
