Survivor Aminah Reveals How She Escaped Abduction In Oyo School Raid

A 12-year-old survivor of the recent school attack in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, identified as Aminah, has narrated how she and other pupils escaped when armed men invaded their school.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

She said the attackers disrupted ongoing lessons, forcing pupils to flee for safety as chaos broke out in the classroom.

According to her, the situation worsened after gunshots were heard, causing panic among students and staff.

Aminah alleged that the teacher in charge ran out immediately the shooting started, leaving the pupils to find their own way to safety.

She explained that the children escaped by jumping through windows and running into nearby bushes to avoid being captured.

Speaking in Yoruba during an interview with SaharaReporters, with her parents’ consent, she said the attack happened while teaching was still ongoing.

“We were in the classroom while a teacher was teaching us when we suddenly heard gunshots from outside,” she said.

“The teacher was the first to run away, leaving us alone. We all had to jump through the window and run into the bush to save ourselves.”

She added that many of the pupils stayed hidden in the bush for several hours before eventually coming out later in the day.

Aminah further said, “We remained in the bush until evening before we started hearing people shouting. That was when all of us began coming out from where we were hiding. The people who took us home were residents of the community.”

32 Pupils and Teachers Still Missing — Police

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed that 32 pupils, students, and teachers abducted during the coordinated attacks in the Ahoro-Esiele community are still unaccounted for.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluyinka Ayanlade, said in an interview on Channels Television that those missing include seven secondary school students, 18 primary school pupils, and seven teachers.

He listed the affected schools as Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.

Reports indicate that armed attackers stormed the schools during school hours, abducting pupils, students, and teachers, including the principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esiele, Mrs. Rachael Alamu.

Parents Panic, Withdraw Children

The incident has sparked widespread fear across affected communities, with many parents reportedly withdrawing their children from school due to security concerns.

Residents say tension remains high as families worry about possible further attacks.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde has announced that surveillance aircraft acquired by the state to strengthen security operations have arrived in Nigeria.

Speaking in Ibadan, he said the aircraft are currently being assembled at a Nigerian Air Force facility in Lagos ahead of deployment.

According to him, the equipment will support intelligence gathering and aerial surveillance to help combat kidnapping and violent attacks across the state.
