Double Chief Lucky Ohimai, widely known as Tarex, has praised the successful rescue operations that secured the release of abducted schoolchildren in Kwara and Kebbi States, describing the breakthroughs as a major boost to national morale and a clear sign that Nigeria’s security response is tightening.
Speaking in a conversation with our reporters, Tarex said the coordinated operations reflect a growing level of seriousness within the nation’s security architecture under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to him, the speed and precision with which the children were recovered indicate that the government is strengthening its capacity to disrupt criminal networks.
He stated that although the recent spike in attacks has caused widespread concern, the latest rescues show that the country is not sliding into helplessness. Instead, he noted, the operations demonstrate improved intelligence gathering, better inter-agency communication, and a firmer commitment at the federal level.
“These are not random wins,” he said. “They show a deliberate push to retake control from terrorists and bandits. You cannot bring home children from two states in succession without clear leadership direction and operational resolve.”
Tarex urged Nigerians to maintain faith in the process, stressing that periods of insecurity often represent the final resistance of criminal groups when state pressure intensifies. He noted that President Tinubu has consistently signaled his determination to dismantle the structures behind kidnapping and rural terror.
He commended the security agencies for what he described as disciplined, coordinated work, adding that the country must continue to support them as they confront increasingly desperate criminal elements.
According to him, Nigeria is moving into a phase where results will become more visible, and citizens should resist the temptation to give in to fear or despair. “This difficult stage will pass,” he said. “What matters is that the state is responding — and responding with strength.”
Tarex maintained that the rescues are strong indicators of a turning tide and expressed optimism that continued pressure will further weaken violent groups across the country.
