In a post on X, Momodu reminded critics that Atiku chose Peter Obi as his running mate in the 2019 presidential election, suggesting the former vice president deserves respect rather than hostility. He also alleged that those attacking Atiku may not represent genuine Obidient supporters, describing them as possible provocateurs.
Speaking during an X Space discussion, Momodu also weighed in on the 2023 presidential election, questioning assertions that Obi was denied victory despite his strong showing in parts of the country. His comments generated mixed reactions online, particularly around regional voting patterns and election outcomes.
He described Atiku as a seasoned and resilient political figure, noting that he finished second in the last election and remains a significant force in Nigerian politics. Momodu added that the next election cycle could prove crucial for Atiku’s political future.
He also cautioned against political hostility and abusive rhetoric, urging supporters across party lines to conduct themselves respectfully. According to him, disagreement should not descend into personal attacks, adding that even criticism of President Bola Tinubu should remain civil.
Momodu maintained that he would continue to support Atiku, describing himself as steadfast in that loyalty, while stressing he would ultimately back whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.
