Tension Rises In Niger As Governor Orders Brutal Clampdown On Knife And Stick Holders
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has issued a stern directive to security operatives to arrest and treat anyone found in possession of knives or sticks as armed robbers.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
This directive comes alongside the enforcement of a dusk-to-dawn curfew across Minna, announced on Tuesday, in response to the recent surge in violence and insecurity in the state capital.
During a high-level security meeting, Governor Bago also ordered the arrest of individuals wearing dreadlocks, declaring it part of efforts to clamp down on rising criminal activity.
“We will not tolerate lawlessness,” the governor said. “Anyone found with any form of weapon—be it a knife or stick—should be treated as an armed robber. If killed in the process, their parents must pay for the bullet before the body is released. Anyone keeping dreadlocks should be arrested and shaved.”
Bago further mandated local leaders—district, village, and ward heads—to keep a detailed record of all visitors in their communities. He warned that any building found to be sheltering criminals or drug dealers would face demolition.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring peace, stressing that decisive measures would be taken to root out those fueling insecurity.
Minna has recently witnessed a troubling rise in thuggery, violent attacks, and killings, leaving many residents gripped with fear.
