Tensions Escalate As Eze Says Wike’s Entry Into Rivers Would Be Risky Under Fubara
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has criticized the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over remarks made by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications, Lere Olayinka, during a recent interview.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Olayinka had blamed the internal crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a claim Eze dismissed as baseless and contradictory.
In a statement on Monday, Eze described Wike’s stance as irrational and motivated by a personal grudge against Atiku.
“I boldly assert that Wike’s attack on Atiku is irrational, fallacious, and merely fueled by pride and an unwarranted fear of Atiku,” Eze declared.
The APC chieftain, who also serves on the APC Legacy Projects Media Team, accused Wike of using such criticisms to curry favor with President Bola Tinubu.
The PDP has faced internal divisions since its loss in the 2023 presidential election, with various factions pointing fingers over the party’s struggles. Eze argued that Wike’s recent comments fail to address the underlying leadership issues causing the PDP’s challenges.
Eze further accused Wike of prioritizing personal ambitions over national responsibilities in his role as FCT Minister, stating, “Many Nigerians see Wike as a self-styled despot and dictator who insists on having the final say in every matter.”
Addressing the crisis in Rivers State, Eze criticized Wike’s ongoing conflict with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing it as a betrayal of progressive democratic values.
“If Wike were a good man, peace-loving, and a true progressive democrat, he would not be fighting Siminalayi Fubara, the man elected by the people of Rivers State to lead them,” Eze added.
He further stated that if he were in Fubara’s position, he would not allow Wike to set foot in Rivers State again. “If I were Fubara, Wike would only step into Rivers at his own risk,” he concluded.
