The Diaspora’s Voice: Why Edo Indigenes Abroad Are Celebrating Dr. Loretta Ogboro-Okor’s Appointment....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Across major cities in Europe, North America, and Africa, Edo indigenes in the diaspora are expressing joy and optimism following the appointment of Dr. Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor as Director-General of the Edo State Diaspora Agency.

From London to Toronto, and from Houston to Johannesburg, diaspora communities see her appointment as a signal that Edo State is ready to fully engage its global citizens — not just in words, but in action.

A Diaspora Leader for the Diaspora People

Dr. Ogboro-Okor has lived and worked internationally for over two decades, giving her first-hand experience of the diaspora’s needs, challenges, and potential. Her leadership is seen as long-overdue recognition of the importance of Edo citizens abroad.

“Finally, someone who understands us is leading the agency. She knows our struggles with migration, remittances, and re-integration. This is the kind of leadership we’ve been waiting for,” said Emmanuel Asemota, a UK-based Edo community leader.

Uniting the Diaspora, Advancing Development

Her global reach and policy experience are expected to:

  • Attract diaspora investments into Edo State.
  • Support safe and legal migration initiatives.
  • Promote skills exchange and development programs.
  • Launch Edo Diaspora Week, a global event to unite Edo citizens abroad and at home.

A Call for Unity, Not Division

Many diaspora voices have called for unity and support for Dr. Ogboro-Okor’s vision. Political distractions, they argue, should not derail the progress Edo State stands to make with her leadership.

“This is about competence and impact, not petty politics. Dr. Ogboro-Okor has our full support,” noted Sophia Ehigiamusoe, President of Edo Women Of Grace , EWG in Europe.

Moving Forward

The diaspora community is ready to work with her and support Governor Okpebholo’s broader agenda. They call on all Edo stakeholders to rally behind this opportunity to make the state a diaspora development model for Nigeria.
