The cleric made the claims while reacting to the recent withdrawal of United States troops from Nigeria.
The U.S. government recently announced the withdrawal of its military personnel who had been deployed to support joint counterterrorism operations in the country.
Addressing his congregation during a church service, Rev. Dachomo alleged that concerns over the safety of American troops influenced the decision to end the deployment.
According to him, the presence of alleged infiltrators within the Nigerian security system made cooperation increasingly risky for foreign forces.
“Let me tell you, do you know why America left? Listen, American soldiers’ lives were in danger because Boko Haram and ISWAP have taken strategic positions in the Nigerian Army and the security of the country,” he said.
The cleric further alleged that the killing of several senior military officers was facilitated by insiders who leaked operational information to insurgents.
“You have seen how many Army generals are being killed by the insurgents through information from fifth columnists. The American soldiers will not endanger their lives. They are afraid to work with our security. They are afraid because their lives were in danger.”
He added that the United States withdrew its troops to avoid suffering casualties similar to those recorded by Nigerian security forces.
“They will lose soldiers in Nigeria, as we are losing soldiers right now in Nigeria. That’s why they left.”
Rev. Dachomo also urged residents to remain vigilant and prepare to defend themselves if attacked by insurgents while encouraging them to remain steadfast in their faith.
The allegations made by the cleric have not been independently verified, and Nigerian security authorities have not publicly responded to the claims.
