Tinubu Called Out By Atiku Over Long-Standing Transparency Oversight....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 election, has leveled accusations against the government of President Bola Tinubu, citing negligence towards transparency concerns. The allegations arose in response to the unresolved $3.3 billion NNPCL loan repayment scandal.

Expressing his views through a post on X platform, Atiku highlighted the conspicuous silence surrounding the NNPCL loan debacle as indicative of systemic corruption within Tinubu’s administration. He emphasized the administration’s disregard for due process in public governance.

“The current federal government,” Atiku asserted, “has a deplorable history of overlooking transparency and due process issues in public administration.” He pointed to the lingering $3.3 billion NNPCL loan repayment controversy, which has ballooned to a $12 billion repayment obligation for Nigeria, as a stark example.

Atiku urged the Tinubu administration to address such high-profile corruption cases transparently. He called upon the National Assembly, as the elected representatives of the people, to fulfill their constitutional mandate of legislating for the nation’s peace, order, and good governance, without collusion with corrupt elements.

In failing to do so and persisting in denial, Atiku cautioned, the government would only further implicate itself in official malpractice.

Separately, Paul Ibe, the media adviser to Atiku Abubakar, criticized President Bola Tinubu’s handling of the fuel subsidy removal. Tinubu had announced the elimination of the petroleum subsidy regime during his inaugural address on May 29, 2023, stating that the 2023 budget did not allocate funds for fuel subsidy payments.

In an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ibe argued that Tinubu’s decision lacked foresight and planning, leading to adverse consequences such as inflation, increased fuel, transport, and food prices, as well as elevated business costs.
