Directly addressing the IGP, Tinubu questioned the lack of arrests in the wake of such a deadly incident.

“Police—IGP—I hope your men are alert and listening to the people. Why haven’t any arrests been made? I expect those criminals to be in custody by now,” he stated firmly.

Tinubu condemned the inability of the security agencies to produce credible leads or suspects, describing it as unacceptable in the face of such a grievous crime.

He also issued a strong call to other top security officials, including the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and the heads of the Air Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), urging them to intensify their efforts.

“Christopher, you’ve done a lot, and I’ve followed your statements—but you cannot afford to be weary of staying in the field,” Tinubu said. “To Oloyede and the Air Marshal, we’re grateful—but we must keep our ears close to the ground.”

Stressing the need for improved intelligence gathering, Tinubu urged the intelligence chiefs to overhaul existing strategies:

“DG NIA, DG SSS—revamp your information networks. We need actionable intelligence so this doesn’t happen again.”

Meanwhile, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia used the occasion to call on the Federal Government to establish state police and create a special intervention fund to address the persistent violence plaguing the region.
