Obi had condemned Tinubu’s travels, labelling them as ill-timed and tone-deaf, especially given the economic hardship and insecurity currently plaguing Nigerians. In a statement posted on , Obi said the trips reflected a leadership more concerned with optics than with addressing urgent national challenges. He particularly criticised Tinubu for failing to visit Minna, Niger State, where over 200 lives were lost and hundreds remain missing due to devastating floods.

Obi stated, “It’s unthinkable that a President would embark on a leisure trip at a time like this, instead of showing empathy and leadership in crisis-stricken areas.”

Responding on , Ogra argued that Obi’s track record as a former governor disqualifies him from making such judgments.
