The incident, which occurred on Sunday, Feb 4, also left Faridat’s grandfather, grandmother, and uncle with burn injuries. Faridat’s grandmother, currently experiencing severe pain in the hospital, recounted the unfortunate event. She explained that while frying meat, the oil suddenly caught fire, and their attempts to control it exceeded their capacity, resulting in a cooking gas explosion.

At the time of the incident around 2 p.m., Faridat Shittu was asleep in her room. Fortunately, community members and other injured victims managed to rescue her. The aftermath of the explosion was severe, leading to the burning of the 14-room building, including shops. This devastating event left 11 families homeless.
