Tragic End: Police Recover Body Of Kidnapped Soldier Killed Over Delayed ₦20M Ransom
The Plateau State Police Command has recovered the body of a Nigerian Army non-commissioned officer, Abdulfatai Odutola, who was killed due to a delay in ransom payment.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Odutola, a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (SNCO), was abducted on February 15, 2025, along the Abuja-Jos highway while traveling to Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
A military internal memo obtained by SaharaReporters revealed that the kidnappers had initially demanded ₦20 million for his release.
The memo stated:
“Reports indicate that MWO Abdulfatai Odutola (CC 23 BDE Yola) was kidnapped yesterday along the Abuja-Jos Road while en route to Yola. He had left Ilorin on Friday, February 14, 2025, spent the night in Abuja, and continued his journey the next day before being abducted. The kidnappers are demanding ₦20,000,000 for his release. Urgent assistance from the appropriate authorities is required.”
However, a follow-up memo confirmed that the soldier had been killed, and his body was found in Jos forest along with his vehicle.
“Information from Yola confirms that MWO Abdulfatai Odutola’s body was recovered by the police in Jos forest. He was murdered by his abductors after the deadline for the ₦20 million ransom elapsed. His car was also discovered. Immediate action is required.”
