The presidential election tribunal in Abuja has dismissed a petition filed by Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and his party, which alleged various irregularities during the February 25 election. CONTINUE READING
Justice Abba Mohammed, one of the five justices presiding over the case, stated during the pronouncement that the petitioners made sweeping allegations of irregularities against the respondent. However, they failed to pinpoint specific polling units where these alleged irregularities took place.
He further remarked, “The petitioners allege irregularities and promised to provide evidence in the form of spreadsheets, inspection reports, and forensic analyses during the trial. Unfortunately, these critical documents were neither attached to the petition nor served to the respondents as promised.” CONTINUE READING
Conclusively, Justice Mohammed emphasized that Peter Obi and the Labour Party’s petition did not furnish a comprehensive account of their claims regarding corrupt practices, vote suppression, fictitious vote tallies, and other related irregularities.
