Osifo claimed that the Nigerian government possesses ample revenue to fulfill the trade union’s demands but lacks the determination to take appropriate action. He emphasized that the government’s monthly allocation from the federation account has doubled, indicating financial capacity. Despite economic challenges, such as the exchange rate doubling from N450 to over N900 per dollar since the government took office, Osifo contended that the increased revenue should enable the government to address the wage issue.

The TUC has presented President Bola Tinubu with a 10-point agenda outlining its demands to the federal government. Osifo highlighted that although the government had agreed to the agenda, it has yet to formalize it through a consent judgment in court.

Osifo pointed out that the 10-point agenda was devised in response to the hardships faced by the average Nigerian, including soaring prices due to inflation, the removal of fuel subsidies, and other economic challenges. He urged the government to prioritize the well-being of citizens by implementing the outlined measures.

Osifo concluded by emphasizing the need for the government to address the issues affecting Nigerians promptly. He urged the government to uphold its commitments and work towards improving the lives of citizens grappling with economic difficulties.
