Mr. Tuoyo Omatsuli, and a group of supporters have vehemently contested the legitimacy of the Ugborodo Community Management Committee (UCMC) formation.

The conflict took a dramatic turn as Tuoyo Omatsuli, alongside 17 other members loyal to Egharaja Daniel Uwawah, rejected a recent publication announcing the establishment of the UCMC to oversee the community for the next two years.

Earlier, the council of elders, led by Benson Omadeli and Pa Anderson Ebiekutan, had publicized the formation of the UCMC, appointing Emmanuel Onuwaje as chairman, with Ofe Nene and Prince J. Kaka as vice chairmen, among others.

However, Tuoyo and his allies, including Ofe Nene and Besidone Eyengho, denounced the UCMC, labeling it illegal. They argued that critical processes leading to the UCMC formation were flawed and lacked the necessary consensus.

In their statement, the group highlighted the absence of the Eghare-Aja of Ugborodo Community, Eghare Uwawah, during the purported decision-making process, casting doubt on the validity of the UCMC establishment.

Moreover, they emphasized that the UCMC’s creation lacked proper authorization and signature from key stakeholders, rendering it null and void in the eyes of Ugborodo land.

This latest development underscores the deepening rift within the Ugborodo community, with conflicting factions vying for control and legitimacy. As tensions escalate, the community remains divided, awaiting resolution and clarity regarding its leadership structure.

The dispute, which saw the suspension of Egharaja Uwawah by the elders council in January, continues to unfold amidst legal and procedural challenges from both sides.

As the situation evolves, stakeholders closely monitor developments, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the protracted leadership crisis plaguing Ugborodo community.
