President Bola Tinubu has reportedly pressured the embattled Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, into joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), after months of mounting political tension, institutional intimidation, and calculated coercion.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The move is believed to be part of a larger strategy to consolidate power, eliminate political opposition, and secure Tinubu’s path to a 2027 re-election with minimal resistance.

According to SaharaReporters, insiders described the pressure on Governor Fubara as unprecedented, raising serious concerns about the state of democracy in Nigeria.

A key turning point reportedly occurred during a secret meeting in London — the first direct engagement between Tinubu and Fubara since the President declared a state of emergency in Rivers and removed both Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, from office.

Sources say the agreement struck during that meeting included Fubara’s reinstatement under tight conditions. Control of Rivers State’s resources would now be shared or heavily influenced by key APC stakeholders.

“The President was determined to bring Rivers under APC control at all costs. With rising public frustration over insecurity, hardship, and economic decline, the 2027 elections posed a serious threat,” said one source. “The only option left was to dismantle opposition strongholds and demand absolute loyalty.”

The source further described Fubara’s ordeal as the worst humiliation ever experienced by a Nigerian governor.

“He was broken politically, harassed, and forced into submission. Rivers State has now become a tool in Abuja’s power chessboard. No governor in Nigeria’s history has endured such levels of political suppression and humiliation,” the source added.
