Before assuming his current role, Mr. Shonubi served as the Managing Director/CEO of the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System PLC from 2012 to 2018. His tenure in that position showcased his expertise and resourcefulness in the banking sector.

Before assuming the position of Managing Director at NIBSS PLC, Mr. Shonubi held various prominent roles in the Nigerian banking sector. He served as the Executive Director of Information Technology and Operations at Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, where he was also a board member of Union Homes. Furthermore, Mr. Shonubi held the position of Director of Information Technology and Corporate Services at Renaissance Securities Nigeria Limited, overseeing the group’s IT infrastructure across Africa.

During the years 1999 to 2007, he worked as Deputy General Manager at MBC International, where he supervised IT operational platforms. He also held key positions at First City Monument Bank Limited, serving as Vice President, and at Ecobank Nigeria Limited, where he served as an Executive Director.

Mr. Shonubi’s experience extends to his tenure as the Head of Treasury Operations at Citibank Nigeria Limited from 1990 to 1993. Additionally, he has actively participated in several sub-committees of the Bankers’ Committee, including the Ethics and Professionalism committee.
