Veekee James Reveals Why Her Dresses Cost Millions, Explains What Goes Into Each Design
Nigerian fashion designer Veekee James has explained why she does not charge less than ₦1 million for dresses made for her clients.
The designer said her pricing is a reflection of the value, creativity, time and resources invested in building her fashion brand over the years.
Veekee James explained that her prices were not arbitrarily set after she became established in the fashion industry, stressing that the cost of her designs is influenced by the amount of work and investment involved in creating each piece.
According to the designer, many people who question her prices may not fully understand the value they receive when they commission a dress from her.
She explained that creating a design requires considerable time, creativity and attention to detail, adding that she sometimes spends long periods seeking inspiration before deciding how a particular outfit should look.
Veekee James also spoke about the creative process behind her designs, saying her faith plays an important role in her search for inspiration.
She noted that the Veekee James brand itself has grown into a recognised name, and clients are paying not only for the physical dress but also for the creativity, craftsmanship, experience and reputation associated with the brand.
The fashion designer maintained that people may only fully appreciate the cost of her work when they experience the process involved in creating a customised piece for themselves.
She therefore defended her decision to maintain a minimum price of ₦1 million for her dresses, emphasising that the amount reflects the significant investment and value behind her work.
