The girls were released on Tuesday, with Governor Nasir Idris publicly asserting that “no Kobo was paid” and that security agencies recovered them “unhurt.”

A different bandit added, “We will take you back home safely to your parents. We are doing this based on peace deals.”

The clip concludes with a bandit stating, “We are letting you go after negotiations. Your government cannot rescue you with might. Your government has failed.”

The video emerged shortly after Governor Idris and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, confirmed that all abducted students had been released and reiterated that no ransom was paid.

The girls, who were kidnapped during a raid in which the school vice-principal was killed, were later seen smiling inside a bus as officials prepared to transport them to Birnin Kebbi for reunification with their families. Authorities say the formal handover is expected on Wednesday.
