The Grammy-winning singer, born Damini Ogulu, shared a video on his account on Friday, July 17, showing the pair laughing, embracing and enjoying a light-hearted moment during rehearsals at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The venue will host the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Spain and Argentina on Sunday.

Captioning the post, Burna Boy wrote: “Sunday Prep! @shakira See you at the @FIFAWorldCup Final! Dai dai, ikó, dale, allez, let’s go!”

The video, accompanied by several behind-the-scenes photos, captured the two global stars in casual outfits exchanging warm hugs and smiles outside the production trailers as final rehearsals gathered momentum.

FIFA had earlier confirmed that Burna Boy and Shakira will perform “Dai Dai,” the official anthem of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, during the tournament’s first-ever Super Bowl-style halftime show.

The groundbreaking performance marks a significant shift from football’s traditional World Cup final format. Reports indicate that the usual 15-minute halftime break will be extended to approximately 30 minutes to accommodate the entertainment spectacle while still allowing for the customary match analysis.

The star-studded halftime lineup is also expected to feature BTS, Madonna, Justin Bieber, acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the PS22 Chorus alongside Coldplay, as well as appearances by beloved characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets. FIFA says the event will also highlight global education initiatives aimed at supporting children worldwide.

Burna Boy and Shakira are already familiar faces on the World Cup stage. Earlier in the tournament, they performed “Dai Dai” during the opening ceremony in Mexico City, where the song was officially unveiled as the tournament’s anthem.

In the latest rehearsal footage, Burna Boy was also seen playfully giving Shakira a spin as the pair geared up for what promises to be one of the biggest halftime performances in FIFA World Cup history.
