The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has sharply rebuked lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju for his vocal opposition to recent demolitions in Abuja. Adeyanju, along with fellow activist Vincent Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, had led a protest against Wike’s handling of the demolition of the Ruga settlement along Airport Road.

During the protest, Adeyanju criticized the demolitions, stating that there was no justification for them, and urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action. The protesters carried placards calling for the dismissal of Wike, demanding that President Tinubu sack him for his role in the demolitions.

In a response to Adeyanju’s criticism, Wike dismissed his actions as attention-seeking, claiming that the lawyer’s opposition was rooted in personal dissatisfaction. Wike revealed that Adeyanju had previously sought the position of National Publicity Secretary for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but his request was denied. “This young man came to me asking to be the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, and I refused. He has since become a civil society activist, but it’s clear he is just looking for a platform because he has no job,” Wike said in an interview.
