The FCT minister revealed that the Federal Government had offered a settlement to unauthorized occupants in 2015, instructing them to relocate. Despite this, the number of houses in the area continued to rise, prompting the need for strict measures to reinforce the government’s message.
The Minister of Science and Technology stressed the significance of the Abuja Technology Village, stating that it houses emerging technologies the Federal Government plans to adopt. He emphasized the importance of demarcating the area to attract investors and achieve its objectives successfully.
In a related development, traders at the bustling Maple Village market in Bwari Area Council of the FCT were given a one-week notice to vacate a specific area. The designated section is intended for parking lots, hospitals, fire, and police stations.
Officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Bwari Area Council personally delivered the notice to the traders during their visit to the market. Conflict arose among the traders, with some obstructing efforts to reclaim the area reserved for essential facilities as part of the market’s remodeling project.
The disagreement escalated into a tumultuous situation, with verbal altercations and even stone-throwing reported. Mr. Audu Amos, the Bwari Area Council’s Head of Logistics, explained that the idea of renovating the market was conceived in 2005.
