Wike made the remarks on Saturday in Port Harcourt during a luncheon organised by the Rainbow Coalition in honour of candidates contesting the 2027 governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly elections in the state.
He highlighted what he described as notable federal appointments and developmental projects received by Rivers State under the current administration, expressing confidence that the state would continue to support President Tinubu.
According to him, “Since 2023, consider what Rivers State has gained under this administration compared to what it received in the past. Examine the appointments and opportunities and be honest with yourselves.
“President Tinubu has shown significant appreciation to the people of Rivers State, and we must continue to support him.”
Wike also dismissed political sentiments based on ethnicity or sectional interests, insisting that voters should prioritize good governance and development.
He advised his supporters to focus on grassroots mobilisation rather than relying heavily on media engagement, stressing that elections are determined at the polling unit level.
He expressed confidence in the strength of the Rainbow Coalition, stating that the group is well-positioned to perform strongly in future elections.
“Television does not deliver votes. Votes are secured at the polling units in your wards and local government areas,” he said.
“If you want influence in Rivers politics, join the Rainbow Coalition.
“If you aspire to be a governor, senator, House of Representatives member, or councillor, you should align with our group.”
The former Rivers State governor also warned against any attempts to destabilize the state, saying such actions would be resisted firmly.
He further called on aggrieved politicians to return to the coalition, assuring them that reconciliation and cooperation were possible.
Wike added, “The people of Rivers State are peaceful, but do not mistake that for weakness.
“No one can come here and take what belongs to our people.
“I forgive everyone who may have grievances. Come back with sincerity so we can work together for the progress of the state.
“What matters is leadership that delivers, not where a leader comes from. Our priority remains good governance and the development of Rivers State.”
