Yahaya Bello Reveals The Factors Behind His Court  Absence....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, facing a 19-count charge by the EFCC, expressed his readiness to attend the Federal High Court in Abuja. Despite his absence during the arraignment, he briefed his legal team to represent him. Adeola Adedipe, a member of his legal counsel, explained that Bello was apprehensive about potential arrest, leading to a request to revoke the arrest warrant. Adedipe argued that Bello hadn’t been served the charge properly before the arrest order was issued, a point reinforced by the court authorizing substituted service of the charge through his lawyer.

Bello contested the legitimacy of the EFCC, claiming the Federal Government hadn’t consulted all states before passing the EFCC Act, violating constitutional protocols. However, EFCC’s lawyer, Kemi Pinheiro, urged the court to dismiss the application, insisting the arrest warrant should stand until Bello appears for trial. Pinheiro emphasized that Bello’s absence obstructed the court’s jurisdiction to decide any application or objection. The EFCC offered not to execute the warrant if Bello’s counsel guarantees his presence at the next hearing, expressing readiness to seek its discharge in such an event. Additionally, EFCC highlighted the gravity of the charges, involving alleged public fund laundering and property acquisition both domestically and internationally.
