You Dress Like You’re Buying Recharge Card — Phyna Calls Out Nigerian Hookup Girls

Published

Reality TV star and former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has stirred conversations online after comparing the appearance of women involved in sex work in Nigeria with those she encountered during a visit to Kenya, urging Nigerian women in the trade to pay more attention to their presentation.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Phyna shared her observations in a video circulating on social media, saying she noticed a clear difference in how women offering similar services presented themselves in both countries.

The reality star explained that during her visit to Kenya, she observed women standing by the roadside wearing heels, styled hair and outfits that made them appear prepared for business. She contrasted this with what she claimed to have seen in parts of Nigeria, particularly around Unke Road and Farm City.

Phyna criticised some Nigerian women involved in hookup services for wearing slippers, casual gowns and appearing without makeup or lip gloss, questioning why they put little effort into their appearance.

“You dress like you’re going to buy recharge card. You girls are not trying. Even if it’s two-inch heels, put them on. Do your makeup, use your lip combo. Come prepared for business,” she said.

She also questioned why some women became upset when men offered them low amounts, arguing that their appearance sometimes did not reflect the effort they expected in return.

According to Phyna, looking presentable does not necessarily require expensive clothing or accessories, as she encouraged women to make better use of what they have.

Her comments have since generated widespread reactions online, with social media users debating her comparison between Nigeria and Kenya, as well as her views on appearance, self-presentation and expectations within the sex work industry.
