You’re On Your Own!” – Fayose Issues Stark Advice To Fubara Amid Impeachment Threat
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has emphasized that politics is fundamentally a power game, and no one plays it on someone else’s behalf.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Fayose made this statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, responding to the impeachment proceedings initiated by the Rivers State House of Assembly against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Odu.
Reflecting on Fubara’s return to office following the end of the state of emergency, Fayose argued that it should have made the governor wiser. Drawing from his own experiences, he recalled how he was removed from office and went into exile during his tenure as Ekiti State Governor, but returned stronger and more resilient.
He also rejected suggestions that the ongoing political crisis in Rivers is linked to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that both Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, remain committed to supporting the President.
Fayose highlighted that the constitution provides clear rules for political conduct, and when these rules are ignored, politicians often seek public sympathy.
He said, “Governor Fubara’s return should have made him a better person. If you erred the first time, the second time should not follow the same path. Politics is a power game—nobody plays it for you. With all due respect, Fubara is the one holding the office of Governor of Rivers State; it is not FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
“Some claim this is about Tinubu’s election—no! Tinubu’s election will come first. Both Wike and Fubara will work for him. But two weeks later, Rivers State will have its own election.”
