His reaction follows Atiku’s recent statement during an interview on Arise Television, where he said the 2027 election would be his final attempt at the presidency.
In a post on social media, Fayose questioned the decision, arguing that it ignores the current political mood around power rotation in the country.
He maintained that Atiku’s return to the race suggests he is indirectly supporting President Bola Tinubu.
Fayose also criticised the former vice president’s persistence, suggesting that it reflects a lack of consideration for younger Nigerians and the need for generational change in leadership.
He further argued that, in the interest of fairness, the presidency should remain in the South for a full term, adding that Atiku’s renewed ambition runs contrary to that expectation.
According to him, Atiku has already made several attempts at the presidency and should step aside, warning that another bid could ultimately benefit Tinubu politically.
