2025 Budget Falls Short, Says Oluwole Oke See My Reason Before You Judge

Oluwole Oke, the House of Representatives member for Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in Osun State, has criticized the 2025 budget presented by President Bola Tinubu, calling it grossly insufficient.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmaker argued that with the country’s large population and pressing economic challenges, the budget, totaling approximately $23 billion, falls short of meeting the nation’s needs.

Speaking during a debate on the budget in the House on Thursday, Oke stated that the ₦49.7 trillion allocation would not be enough to stimulate economic growth.

“I must speak candidly, Mr. Speaker, from a legislative perspective. The budget presented by the President is grossly inadequate,” Oke said. “We are discussing a $23 billion budget, which is the cost of just one project, a pipeline connecting Nigeria to Senegal and Morocco. This is only one item in a much larger picture. It is insufficient.”

Oke further emphasized that, based on Nigeria’s needs and the provisions of the Public Procurement Act 2007, the budget fails to address the country’s core requirements.

Additionally, Senator Saliu Mustapha of Kwara Central also expressed concern, criticizing the large allocation to defense at the expense of agriculture. He warned that neglecting food security would have severe repercussions on the country’s economic stability.
