Faleke made this known on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, where he called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his supporters across Ikeja and Lagos State to back Hamzat ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries.
In his message, he urged party loyalists to unite behind Hamzat, expressing confidence in his candidacy for the 2027–2035 governorship tenure.
The endorsement comes amid reports that APC leaders are considering a consensus arrangement that could position Hamzat as the party’s flagbearer for the Lagos governorship race. The move is said to be part of wider consultations among South-West stakeholders as preparations for the next election cycle gather pace.
Sources also revealed that discussions are ongoing regarding candidates for other key positions in the region. Among those being considered is Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, who is reportedly favoured for the Ogun State governorship, as well as Sharafadeen Alli, who is gaining support for the Oyo State governorship race.
The reported consensus choices are believed to have emerged from a strategic meeting between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and APC stakeholders from Lagos, Ogun, and Oyo States, held in Lagos on March 23.
According to insiders, the meeting involved extensive deliberations on party strategy and candidate selection, with emphasis on individuals who have strong grassroots support within their respective states.
Among those said to have attended the meeting were Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele; Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; and Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, alongside other key party figures.
