In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Atiku said there was no need to defect, stressing that he remains committed to the party.

He expressed confidence that the courts would eventually recognise the leadership of David Mark, noting that the party expects a favourable judicial outcome.

Atiku stated, “We believe the trial court will resolve the matter as quickly as possible, even before the congress. While observers may have opinions, we are confident the court will affirm David Mark’s leadership.”

When asked about the possibility of joining another political party due to the crisis, Atiku maintained that the ADC already has established structures and significant investment, making defection unnecessary.

He explained that the party is a coalition built over time, adding that efforts are focused on resolving the legal issues and continuing its activities.

“Some parties lack structures. ADC is a coalition we started about a year and a half ago, and a lot of effort has gone into it. We are concentrating on completing the judicial process and moving forward,” he said.

Addressing concerns about securing the party’s presidential ticket, Atiku described ADC as a coalition of strong political figures, including notable contenders such as Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, emphasizing that the party operates on a shared leadership model.

“We have agreed that we are all leaders,” he added.

His remarks come as the ADC continues to grapple with internal disagreements ahead of the 2027 general elections.
