The Kaduna Citizens Watch for Good Governance has petitioned the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai for alleged misappropriation totaling ₦423 billion.
This call follows a Kaduna State House of Assembly report implicating El-Rufai and his administration in financial misconduct. Members of the group marched to the ICPC office in Kaduna demanding El-Rufai’s immediate arrest and investigation.
They also protested at the Kaduna State Government House on June 20, 2024, urging Governor Uba Sani to involve anti-corruption agencies. Chairman Victor Duniya stated they submitted a similar petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja on July 2, 2024, seeking investigations, arrests, and prosecutions of El-Rufai and his associates involved in alleged financial malpractice.
The group emphasized the importance of holding accountable those who exploit public funds, expressing confidence in the anti-corruption agencies’ resolve to combat such practices.
