Despite the drizzle, participants, carrying a large banner that read “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” sang and voiced their frustrations over economic challenges. Adetunji Ajala, the Osun State Coordinator for the Coalition of Concern Nigeria Citizens, called for a reduction in fuel prices to N180 per liter and criticized the current administration’s policies.

Ajala emphasized that the protest was not politically motivated but a reflection of widespread dissatisfaction. He highlighted the impact of rising fuel prices and economic hardship on the youth and the general population, urging President Tinubu to review his policies.

PUNCH Online reports that similar protests took place nationwide on August 1, driven by public discontent with economic and social conditions. President Bola Tinubu has appealed for patience and warned against allowing the unrest to be exploited by troublemakers, underscoring the need for peaceful and constructive dialogue.
