Former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa, has accused the infamous terrorist and bandit leader, Bello Turji, of mobilizing his forces to launch attacks on communities along the Zamfara-Sokoto axis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Bafarawa urged the government to take immediate action, stating, “If someone like Turji can cause such destruction and disrupt movement in our communities, it is imperative that the government rises to the challenge.”

Reports reveal that Turji, whose relatives were reportedly detained by security forces on suspicion of terrorist activities, issued an ultimatum demanding their release by January 1, 2025. Turji allegedly threatened severe retaliation if his demands were not met.

A local from the affected area told journalists that Turji and his bandits had already begun targeting communities, particularly in the Shinkafi Local Government Area, forcing hundreds to flee to what they believed to be safer areas.

Meanwhile, Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal Dare reaffirmed that his administration has no plans to negotiate peace with the terrorists and will continue to support the military, security forces, and the state’s security outfit, Askarawan Zamfara, to restore order in the region.

On Christmas Day, Turji had issued a chilling threat, stating he would begin 2025 by carrying out killings and kidnappings in the Shinkafi area and surrounding communities unless his relatives were freed. In a disturbing move, his bandits later abducted passengers from Gusau, the state capital, and set their vehicle on fire. The victims, including 10 passengers and a driver, were taken into the bush by the assailants, causing local residents to halt travel in the region.

Turji’s threat was further amplified in a viral video, where he warned Zamfara’s communities to prepare for killings and kidnappings in 2025 if his relatives were not released. “I will begin 2025 by killing the people of Shinkafi. Then, we will demand ransom and disrupt their peace. If they do not want this, they must release our people who have been arrested,” Turji stated in the video.
