According to the DSS, Kanu — who is currently facing a seven-count charge of terrorism and treasonable felony brought by the Federal Government — is not subjected to solitary confinement conditions.

During Wednesday’s resumed hearing at the Federal High Court in Abuja, a DSS operative, whose identity was concealed for security reasons, continued his testimony as a prosecution witness.

While being cross-examined by Kanu’s lead counsel, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), a former Attorney-General of the Federation, the operative—identified as PW-BBB—asserted that “solitary confinement is not a practice of the DSS.”

Agabi expressed concern over Kanu’s prolonged detention, claiming it amounted to solitary confinement. However, the DSS witness refuted the allegation, stating he was only part of the investigative team and not directly responsible for Kanu’s custody.

When Agabi pressed further, arguing that Kanu’s detention could be considered “cruel and inhuman treatment,” the operative responded that he could not comment on Kanu’s psychological well-being, as such assessments were outside the scope of his duties.
