Fresh Drama Unfolds As APC Changes NEC Meeting Venue At The Last Minute
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a change in the venue for its 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting slated for Thursday, July 24, 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Originally, the meeting was scheduled to hold at the APC National Secretariat, popularly known as ‘Buhari House’, located in Abuja.
However, in a statement issued on Wednesday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, revealed that the meeting will now take place at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, citing logistical considerations for the venue shift.
“The All Progressives Congress (APC) announces that its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2025, will now be held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, instead of the party’s National Secretariat on Blantyre Street, Wuse II,” Morka stated.
A major item on the NEC meeting’s agenda is the selection of a substantive National Chairman, following the unexpected resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje on June 27.
There are growing indications that former Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Tanko Al-Makura, and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Nentawe Yilwatda, have emerged as leading contenders to succeed Ganduje.
Ganduje’s resignation, though publicly attributed to health concerns, is believed by insiders to be linked to intense internal political maneuvering and pressure from influential blocs within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In the wake of his exit, Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, was appointed Acting National Chairman, pending the selection of a permanent replacement.
According to sources at the APC National Secretariat—who spoke anonymously due to lack of authorization—the NEC meeting will also address critical matters such as updates from the Constitution Review Committee and scheduling of party congresses nationwide.
Many within the party, including members of the Progressives Governors’ Forum and the National Working Committee (NWC), are reportedly awaiting the final nod from President Bola Tinubu before publicly backing any candidate for the chairmanship.
