Yul Edochie Reveals He Married May At 22, Sparks Fresh Reactions Online

Speaking during an interview on the Honest Bunch Podcast, Yul disclosed that their relationship started while they were preparing for the General Certificate Examination (GCE).

According to the actor, they met at the same examination centre and became close shortly afterward.

Reflecting on relationships, Yul also stressed that men should maintain boundaries and avoid becoming excessively submissive in love.

He said, “I was 22 when I got married to May. As I was getting into school, we were already close. We met while we were writing the GCE; we were in the same centre.

“Them no dey mumu for woman, you must set boundaries. Mumu, like anything she does, you must take am because I love you? No, you must set boundaries.”

Yul’s marriage to May later came under public scrutiny following his marriage to fellow actress Judy Austin, which sparked widespread reactions online.

In a separate development, media personality Daddy Freeze recently criticised Yul Edochie over comments he made concerning On-Air Personality Roby Ekpo’s failed marriage to Mayowa Lambe.

Roby Ekpo had faced backlash after opening up emotionally about his marriage during an appearance on the Honest Bunch Podcast, prompting broadcaster Do2dtun to defend him, arguing that prioritising mental health and speaking openly is healthier than suffering in silence.

However, Yul disagreed with Do2dtun’s position and faulted Roby Ekpo for displaying emotions publicly over the collapse of his marriage.

The actor further suggested that Ekpo should move on by finding new relationships rather than dwelling on the situation.
