Tension Rises As Ibadan Natives Accuse Fayose Of Inciting Unrest In Oyo

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has cautioned former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, to focus on his political battles without involving the revered Olubadan stool in partisan controversies.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Monday in Ibadan, Oyo State, and signed by the organisation’s Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide.

Fayose had, during an interview on Channels Television, accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of dismantling his political structure within the South-West chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also claimed to enjoy the backing of prominent figures in Ibadan, including the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja.

In response, the CCII condemned the remarks and warned against any attempt to drag the Olubadan institution into political disputes.

“The Olubadan throne is sacred, highly revered and strictly non-partisan. No politician, regardless of status, should use the throne for political gains or to settle political scores,” the statement said.

The group further emphasised that Ibadan is known for peace, unity and stability, urging Fayose to avoid statements capable of inciting tension.

“Ibadan is a land of peace, wisdom and unity. No individual, no matter how influential, can destabilise the state through reckless political utterances,” it added.
