What Is Good For The Goose Is Good For The Gander – Cleric Tackles Men Over Extramarital Affairs

Published

A Nigerian cleric, Omakwu, has criticised men who engage in extramarital affairs while expecting their wives to remain faithful, describing such behaviour as a double standard.

The cleric made the remarks in a video shared on her social media page, where she discussed adultery, forgiveness and the importance of commitment in marriage.

According to her, men often find it difficult to forgive their wives when they are unfaithful, while women are generally more willing to overlook similar actions committed by their husbands.

Addressing men who maintain relationships outside marriage, Omakwu challenged what she described as an unfair expectation, insisting that the same standards should apply to both partners.

“You are double standard because what is good for the goose is good for the gander. If a woman cannot follow a man, you can’t follow a woman,” she said.

She further emphasised that marriage requires loyalty and a firm commitment to one person, regardless of the difficulties couples may encounter along the way.

According to the cleric, choosing a life partner means making a conscious decision to remain committed to that individual through both favourable and challenging circumstances.

“When you decide to choose one person to marry, it means I have looked at all the men in the world and all the women and I decided you are the one. So come rain, come shine, we are together,” she added.
